Scheuchzer order for retrofit after serious accident
Plasser Robel Services Plasser Robel Services (PRS), which was newly formed at the beginning of 2022, has now received its first major order to repair accident damage. The client is the Swiss company Scheuchzer SA.
Following accidental damage, a complete overhaul (retrofit) of the Plasser & Theurer tamping machine 08-16/90 “Beaver”, built in 1989, including trailer from Matisa, is carried out by PRS at the Freilassing site. Assembly is scheduled to start in August 2022, with factory acceptance planned for February 2023. Following a frame replacement, the scope of the order includes the complete renewal of the electrics, pneumatics and hydraulics as well as the installation of a new Caterpillar engine, air conditioning systems for both cabs and tamping units from Plasser & Theurer.
The customer benefits from the extended, cross-brand resources of the full-service provider: Freilassing provides the infrastructure, including certifications and test procedures. Plasser & Theurer and PRS Technik are responsible for the design. The retrofit personnel come from PRS in Opladen and Plasser & Theurer in Linz. The Robel Business Unit Systems & Vehicles provides support in purchasing, work preparation and approval.
Service scope at PRS
At the beginning of 2022, Deutsche Plasser with its locations in Munich and Opladen merged with the Robel Business Unit Service & Customer Service in Freilassing to form the largest service organization in the Plasser & Theurer Group (Rail Business from 03.01.2022). The services provided by Plasser Robel Services (PRS) GmbH, with over 250 employees, range from spare parts service, maintenance, repair and overhaul to complete retrofits. In addition, there are two competence centers in Munich for the reconditioning of tamping units and in Freilassing for wheelsets and bogies. A new business segment is being established for additional availability: if the company’s own vehicle is not available for construction site work, PRS can supply a replacement at short notice in the form of a rental or used machine.
